The use of Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) in caries management has gained significant interest since the advent of COVID-19 and the need for non-aerosol generating procedures. This webinar will delve into the mechanisms of action of SDF, exploring its antibacterial and remineralising effects. We will discuss the indications and contraindications of its use, providing guidance for clinical decision-making. Additionally, the webinar will address frequently asked clinical questions around SDF, including its application techniques, potential side effects, and its role in caries management.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand the chemical composition and mechanisms of action of Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) and its role in caries prevention and arrest.
  • Identify the indications and contraindications for the use of SDF in clinical practice.
  • Learn about the application techniques of SDF and the management of potential side effects, such as staining.
  • Understand the limitations of SDF in caries management
